Principal

At DBS we have dealt with thousands of dental principals over the years. That experience helps us to understand your current and future business requirements as a principal – so we can give you the financial help and advice that matters.

Are you a dental principal who has just bought their first practice and needs advice on setting up bookkeeping and other financial systems?

Or are you a dentist that is thinking about retirement, and wants to get the best price for the practice when you sell up?

Either way, we’ve got the advice and solutions you need.

Our basic principal’s package

Good, well-organised financial records are a necessity for your practice.  Think of your practice’s books and financial statements as a score sheet that shows you just how well, or not, you’re performing as a business.

They’re also an early warning system that lets you know when and why the practice is facing financial issues.  And remember that proper books and records have to be maintained by law – HMRC can even impose a fine if this isn’t done so keeping your records in order is vital.

You’ll be dealing with a lot of advisers and third parties, including banks, lenders, landlords, suppliers and the tax authorities.  And they will all want to see your accounts before making decisions about lending to or working with your dental practice.

Everything you need as a principal                 Plus our added benefits
  • Preparation of your annual accounts
  • Preparation of your personal tax return
  • Submission of your personal tax return
  • National Insurance computations
  • A complete accounts service, tailored to principals
  • All your records saved and organised in the one place, saving you time at the end of the year
  • Advice on tax-allowable business expenses
  • Reminders on payments that need to be made by defined dates
  • Updates on any issues or financial changes that affect principals

Pay in instalments each month to help manage the cost over the year

Bookkeeping for your practice

Bookkeeping isn’t a job most dentists relish when running their practice.  Keeping your accounts up to date take time – time that you could be spending with patients or running the practice.

We can do all of your bookkeeping for you for a fixed monthly fee.  We will lighten your admin load and give you monthly reports on your business’s financial performance – reports that give you the financial info you need when making business decisions about the practice.

And if we do your bookkeeping, we’ll even reduce the cost of your basic principal’s package.

Sign up for bookkeeping and we’ll reduce your basic principal’s package fee.

Everything you need when it comes to payroll

payroll is another job that takes up valuable time and which many dentists don’t enjoy.

There are increasingly complex rules and regulations around payroll and pensions, including Real Time Information (RTI) and Automatic Enrolment.  So outsourcing your payroll to us makes a lot of sense.

The importance of an annual review of your practice
  • Payroll, including all payments (overtime, sickness, bonuses etc) on your payslips
  • secure sealed payslips to all your employees
  • Employee summary showing each employee’s details
  • confirmation of payments to be made to HMRC
  • A fee based on the number of employees in your practice

Your payroll service fee is based on the number of employees.  Pay on a monthly basis to ensure that the employees of your dental practice are taken care of.

Testimonal

I have found working with DBS an absolute joy! I was not getting the efficiency with my previous accountants. Having met nearly the entire team on my trip up to Oxford I was wowed by their hospitality, empathy to my current situation, immediate advice given, and many facets of the team that could go above and beyond my accounts, but actually work with me and develop my business as a whole. DBS are purely dental accountants – another benefit. Being a sole practitioner leads little time to develop your business, and as they work with many dentists I have been given many ideas that other successful dentists use. I am very excited about the future!
