George Manolescue    FCA FCCA
Managing Partner

A fellow of both ICAEW and ACCA George has over 35 years’ post qualification experience, he also has more than a third of a century working with the dental profession.  DBS was originally established in the 1970’s and continues to work with motivated dental professionals who wish to make the most of their professional opportunities.  George actively runs the business building strong partnerships and alliances with other areas of the profession.  UK dentistry is a constant fascination for George and working with the great team that is DBS makes it even more enjoyable for him.  George knows since the creation of DBS more than 40 years ago, the sector has changed enormously and still continues to fascinate him, he admits it is his life’s work and will remain so for some time to come.

Away from the office his joy is spending time with his wife Prue, their three daughters, and their four grandchildren all the while with Basil the dog following him around.  George’s passions are fast cars, Rugby Union, great wine, good company and rock and blues, with an overall favourite: Led Zeppelin, truly the DB’s.

Nick Stewart    ACA FCCA
Partner

Is a Chartered Accountant and partner at DBS.  With over 20 years’ experience of advising dentists, he demystifies dental accounts for his clients and helps them understand the financial side of dentistry, specialising in annual accounts, bookkeeping and management accounts.  Nick has seen literally 1000s of dental accounts over the years and has built up a wealth of benchmarking expertise to show dentists where they are winning and losing. Nick is passionate about DBS and its 100% focus on the dental profession and how every member of our team is a specialist in their own right.

In his own time, Nick enjoys various activities including golf, reading, films, gardening and cooking.  Most Sundays he can be seen on the touchline, supporting his two sons’ football teams (as well as Arsenal!).  Nick likes nothing better than walking with his wife, Sue, and the family dog, Onry (named after the legendary Thierry Henry).

Since September 2012, Nick has been supporting the Accountants in Mentoring programme organised by the Business School at Oxford Brookes University.  He has mentored two students, both in their final year of an Accounting and Finance degree, and hopes that his many years of experience as an accountant will be of benefit to his mentors.

Judith Carrington
Business Manager

Since joining DBS in 1994 Judith’s responsibility has evolved to now encompass a multitude of exciting, challenging and incredibly varied tasks on a daily basis.  Although the extent of her role has reduced her direct contact with our client base, she is still very much aware of the changes happening within the industry and across the business.  She loves being part of a team dedicated to the dental profession and she relishes being part of the solutions provided to our clients.

In the evenings and weekends Judith enjoys walking the family retrievers and supporting her daughter’s sporting activities, whether poolside or on the touchlines of local sports fields.  For those quieter moments a good thriller is always to hand!


Lisa Monaghan
PA to George Manolescue

Lisa joined DBS in 2005 and for the last ten years has enjoyed working with George as his personal assistant.  Whilst she works closely with George, Lisa is also very involved in the project and consultancy work often being a regular point of contact for clients.  She has also reacquired the time and fees function for the company. Lisa is friendly and approachable with a wicked sense of humour and enjoys working with the friendly DBS team.

Away from DBS Lisa’s time is currently spent with her husband enjoying(?!) renovating their new home with the odd leisurely weekend thrown in!


Martin Burgess
Accounts Team

Martin joined DBS in November 2007, having spent over thirty years in the food industry.  His experience covers management accounting within both production and commercial environments, with a heavy emphasis on both budgeting and forecasting. Martin’s responsibilities are on the administrative side of the accounting, mainly managing the flow of documentation to and from clients. Martin likes the friendly environment of DBS and the flexibility of part-time work afforded him by the business.

In his spare time Martin enjoys golf, DIY and travel.


Darren Nicholson    BSc Econ ACCA MAAT
Accounts Team

Darren joined DBS in early 2008 and now has nine years’ experience working solely with dentists, specialising in the preparation of year-end accounts and as such has encountered most of the issues specific to the dental industry.  Darren has assisted numerous dental limited companies over the years, from the original incorporation through to the final winding up and everything in between.

Darren has relocated to Greece but has continued his role with DBS as he relishes being part of the DBS team, working with our educated and successful clients and meeting their high demand for a premium service.   Darren’s main role now is to maintain bookkeeping services for several of our clients’ and the preparation of year-end accounts.

In his personal time Darren admits to being a keen but very poor archer, a lover of science fiction novels and is attempting to learn the Greek language which is proving quite a challenge.

Kelly Webster ACICM
Business Development Manager

Kelly has worked in accountancy firms since 1994 and has studied the Association of Accounting Technicians, joining DBS in March 2008 as Nick’s personal assistant.  Kelly has been Business Development Manager for DBS since 2014, and is responsible for new business and marketing.  Kelly is also Director of our affiliate company Smilecare, offering patient payment plans and patient credit facilities.  Kelly loves that DBS gives you growth in your role to develop and training to achieve more.  Kelly is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management and is studying towards on becoming a Graduate Member.

In her personal time Kelly enjoys holidays and city breaks with her young adult son, or travel with girlfriends.  Kelly is regularly at Body Step, Pump and Combat classes and enjoys weight training.  Kelly likes to partake in the odd game of bingo or roulette and has a special interest in the world of Gin.

Leeza Blythe Morley MAAT
Accounts Team

Leeza has worked in the accountancy profession for ten years after completing her A levels. After joining DBS in January 2012 Leeza has passed her AAT and has now commenced the ACCA.  Leeza currently prepares all types of accounts up to draft stage ready for review, as well as assisting with business and personal tax computation drafts.

Outside of work Leeza has plans to learn how to ski after a recent holiday to Verbier, finding the après-ski as enticing as the slopes.  Most of her time is spent out and about socialising with friends and family.  Leeza admits her biggest vice is spending too much of her wages on her love of shoes, with her favourites being Kurt Geiger.


Vanessa Pople    CTA ATT
Director – Tax

Vanessa joined DBS in August 2013 and was promoted to Director in April 2016. She has over 27 years’ experience looking after the tax affairs of her clients and gained a wealth of experience spanning most areas of tax and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Vanessa specialises in the providing compliance and advisory services to owner managed businesses and works closely with you to understand your business and personal objectives and so provide you with the best outcome both commercially and in terms of tax exposure.

In her spare time Vanessa enjoys spending time with her family and friends and regularly goes to concerts and comedy shows. Vanessa is also a keen participant in group fitness classes and walking her dogs.


Diane Berry   BSc (Hons) CIPP
Payroll Controller

Diane joined DBS in January 2015 and processes our client’s payrolls each month. After a career working in offices in various roles she moved into accounts and then decided to specialise in payrolls which is an ever-changing, challenging subject, especially with first RTI and now the arrival of Auto Enrolment. She is an experienced book-keeper and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals after qualifying in 2013.

When not in work, Diane is to be found in exploring the countryside with her Irish Setter Flynn, with the Brecon Beacons being a firm favourite along with the New Forest, Forest of Dean and Devon. She also enjoys studying and gained her BSc in Criminology and Psychological Studies in 2010 after 7 years of home study while working full time, running a home and raising three daughters. Currently modernising her home and garden, Diane ensures she stays busy.

Bethan Cameron
Office Administrator

Bethan joined DBS in April 2016 as an office administrator having been in a customer service role throughout her career.  Bethan also is the administrator for our affiliate company Smilecare and assists in the administration of Smilecare’s sister company, Direct Dental Finance.

Outside of work Bethan coaches and plays football for Aylesbury United Ladies Football Club.  Bethan likes to go to theatre, spend time in her garden and spend time with her nephews.

Jordan Hamilton-Cox   BA (Hons)
Tax Assistant

Jordan joined DBS in June 2016 as Tax Assistant.  After three years of working at HM Revenue & Customs Jordan moved into the private sector and is now working towards his ATT qualification.  Jordan has also taken on the responsibility of preparing Associate Accounts.

Outside of work Jordan enjoys mixed martial arts (MMA) and Brazilian jiu jitsu (BJJ), competing in both.  When time allows, Jordan likes to explore the small villages and harbour towns in South East Cornwall with his family.

Julie Bernard
Office Administrator

Julie joined DBS in July 2016 to provide maternity cover for Rebecca, and is now a permanent member of the DBS team.

Although having worked in an office environment for much of her adult life, Julie had been employed as a Teaching Assistant for 11 years whilst her two children were growing up. Julie combines receptionist duties with administrative support and assisting other members of the team.

Julie is passionate about animal welfare and dedicates most of her free time to her beloved labradors, Maggie and Archie.  Julie also enjoys cooking, gardening and spending time with friends.
